Fifth Avenue is a quiet block - it is one of the few streets without a bridge over the canal so there is very little through traffic.
Downtown is a ten minute walk. Heading up Fourth Street, you pass Defazio's Pizza, Superior Merchandise Company coffee and The Shop, a restaurant/bar in a old hardware store.
The Gas Holder is the most unique building on the block. It housed manufactured gas for lighting. Today its used as storage space and occationally for arts events
Prospect Park has awesome views of the neighborhood, the Poestenkill Gorge is an amazing place and there is a access point on the Hudson, all within walking distance
